Dear Parents/Guardians of current CCJHS 8th grade students:

It is hard to believe that the school year is almost over and your son or daughter will be making the transition to the High School. We invite you to call for an appointment to meet with your child's counselor to create a 4-Year Plan as well as enter course selections for next year.

A 4-Year Plan is a guide that allows students to carefully plan their high school experience based on their career and postsecondary goals/interests. The aim of the 4-Year Plan is also to ensure that students are aware of and meet graduation requirements, meet minimum eligibility requirements for college admission, and become acquainted with the different classes offered at the High School.

Your child has already, or will be taking a Career Interest Inventory which explores the various career opportunities that interest your child and the steps your child will need to achieve those goals.  The key is to help your child develop realistic career, educational and life goals that are fitting to his or her skills, personal qualities and interests. Also, it is okay for your child to change career goals and course selections as he or she learns more about the world of work. Keep in mind that it's better to have a plan that is modified as your child changes career goals, than to have no plan at all.

Counselors will be available the week of Feb. 16th -22nd to meet with you & your child to create a 4-Year Plan and to register for fall classes. Appointments can be made by contacting Renie in the Counseling Office at (775) 423-2181 ext. 230.  Please be advised that the Counselors will select your child's classes for the fall semester if you are unable to meet.

Thank you for your time, help and commitment to working together! We look forward to meeting you and your child.

Counselors;

Autumn Lucero - A-HAN

Robin Wood - HAR-PAL

Teresa Gehman - PAM-Z
