HIGH RISK IMMUNIZATION CLINIC:

Posted 11-04-09

As you may have heard, supplies of the H1N1 influenza vaccine are limited at this time. Individuals with certain medical problems are considered to be at higher risk for complications related to the H1N1 influenza virus. At this time, Churchill County Public Health does not have enough vaccine to immunize every child in the Churchill County School District. Churchill County Public Health will be holding an H1N1 influenza immunization Clinic (shots only, no nasal) at Churchill County High School on 11/10/2009 starting at 8:20 am aimed at immunizing students in high risk categories.  Read entire letter from our Chief School Nurse, Stefanie Utz, for more information and a list of high risk categories.

Letter Dated 09-18-09
from Stephanie Utz
Chief School Nurse regarding H1N1 district update.

As we are returning to school, we wanted to remind you of the resources the federal government has made available to help prepare for the expected return of the H1N1 flu this fall. This novel influenza virus disproportionately affects young people, so it is critical that we know how to help prevent the spread of the flu and be ready to respond in the event of an outbreak.

We are asking all staff and students to continue to observe the following healthy habits while at school:

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue if you need to cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue away.  Wash your hands immediately.  If a tissue is not available, cough or sneeze into your sleeve or elbow.
  • Wash your hands often!  Use warm, soapy water and scrub for at least 15-20 seconds.
  • Stay home if you are feeling ill.

CCSD personnel will continue their diligence in sanitizing and disinfecting all schools, offices, and auxiliary buildings daily.
